For my dissertation work, I am developing an algorithm to assemble transcriptomes. My program is novel in that it takes into account alternative splicing to generate non-linear sequence output. Also, current assembly programs are memory-intensive and thus must be run on a supercomputers or in parallel, but my program is less memory intensive and can be run on standard systems.
